Hoogaars ‘Nehalennia’
Last week, on a beautiful yet could morning, the Hoogaars ‘Nehalennia’ was launched.
The Nehalennia is not just any Hoogaars—with a length over the stems of more than 22 meters and an overall length of over 28 meters, it is the largest Hoogaars ever built. The owner intends to sail this vessel around Scotland and through the Northwest Passage (article). Based on these sail plans, Olivier van Meer Design has designed a Hoogaars that is ocean-worthy!
Over the coming month, the final touches will be made to the rigging and technical installation, after which the first sea trials are expected to take place around mid-March.
