Specifications
Tjalk ‘Catharina’
Former inland cargo vessel that originally transported freight over inland waterways under sail, and later with the help of an auxiliary engine. In 1967, it was converted into a motor yacht and eventually transformed into a houseboat / ark in Amsterdam.
The wheelhouse serves as the entrance to the houseboat, with a staircase leading forward. This staircase is removable, providing access to the utility room / storage area, from where one can continue to the aft cabin, which features a double bed. From the aforementioned staircase forward, you enter a hallway with the bathroom on the port side. Further forward is the spacious living room with an open kitchen. In the bow of the ship is the owner’s cabin, also with a double bed. The hatch cover is fitted with an ecological (green) roof.
